Biography:
Bart Boss: I won my first art award in the first grade, and had a painting of a Toucan hanging in Warwick City Hall. I had my first professional exhibit at Burrillville Art Fair at age fourteen, and sold four paintings. I received a BFA with honors from Pratt Institute. I immediately proceeded with the Artist life of travel, odd jobs, and freelance art. Highlights including, sign painting in Oregon, Owning a gallery in New Orleans, set and prop artist for Water Front Film, sign painting, and illustrating in New Mexico, Illustrating a children's book in Montana, and two commissioned portraits for the Conrad Museum. My future plans are to plant my roots back in Rhode Island soil, and share my love of Art. Bart Boss - artistic style: Romanticism Romanticism emphasizes the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the imaginative, the personal, the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental. Among the characteristic attitudes of Romanticism are the following: a deepened appreciation of the beauty of nature; a general exaltation of emotion over reason and of the senses over intellect; a turning in upon the self and a heightened examination of human personality and its moods and mental potentialities. A focus on the passions and inner struggles; a view of the artist as a individual creator, whose creative spirit is more important than strict adherence to formal rules and traditional procedures; an emphasis upon imagination. A fondness for the exotic, the remote, the mysterious, the weird, the occult, the monstrous, the diseased, and even the satanic. Allegory A fictional narrative and, artistic expression that conveys a symbolic meaning parallel to but distinct from, and more important than, the literal meaning. An extended metaphor.
